A Physical Therapy Aide should have excellent people skills, both in person and on the phone. This job also requires strength, stamina and an awareness of good body mechanics in order to help the patients.

As a student at SOCHi you will have access to knowledgeable educators, goal orientated career services advisors, opportunities to take part in various volunteer events, and network with employers and peers.

Q: Do I need a high school diploma or GED to attend SOCHi?

Yes, having a high school diploma or a GED is one of the requirements to attend SOCHi. 

Q: Can I afford school and is it worth the cost?

You can’t afford not to go to school. The return on the investment is much higher than for those without an education. SOCHi's Student Finance advisors will help you with each step. SOCHi offer Federal Financial Aid to those who apply and qualify.

Q: How do I know I will get a job after I finish school?

Our career services team will assist you in your job search. SOCHi’s career services advisors educate students in developing their ability to successfully perform the following exercises as they begin to seek employment:

 

  • Preparing resume and cover letter

  • Identifying job position openings

  • Developing and utilizing a network of professional contacts who can aid the job search effort

  • Developing job interviewing skills 

  • Following up with employers after interviews

  • Negotiating wages and benefits

  • Maintaining employment once hired

  • Securing opportunities for advancement

Q: If I am working when can I make time to go to school?

SOCHi offers flexible class schedules to meet your needs. 

Q: I haven’t gone to school in a while, how do I know I will succeed as a student at SOCHi?

As a student at SOCHi you will have the opportunity to sit in class with other adult learners who are likely in the same position as you. Your classes will be led by caring and knowledgeable instructors. You will also have access to your Program Director, Director of Education and Director of Student Services to help you ease into student life. Most programs have hands-on or practicum learning as a component, however, if you are having trouble, tutoring is available to help you to succeed. 

Q: I’m not sure what program I’m interested in most. How do I find out what’s the right career path for me?

Choosing the right career path is a very important decision which requires research and information. SOCHi's admissions advisors are available to answer all of your questions, give you a tour of the campus, and introduce you to your program director; this would be a good opportunity to ask more detailed questions about the program. 

Q: How long do I need to go to school before I graduate?

All programs at SOCHi are developed to be completed in less than 10 months.

Q: What is Externship?

Externship is a component of the curriculum at SOCHi which allows you to take what you have learned in the classroom and apply it to the real world. Externship gives you the opportunity to work with real clients, patients, doctors, therapists and others so that you will gain the confidence and experience to help you land that great job or build your own client base or both. In some case Externship could lead to permanent employment.

Q: Who hires SOCHi’s graduates?

Since 1996 SOCHi has been growing its relationships with employers to facilitate two valuable needs; help the employer hire a good candidate and help our students get good jobs. SOCHi's Career Services team works closely with employers from spas, physical therapy clinics, chiropractic offices, private offices, sports medicine facilities, hospitals, gyms, athletic teams, cruise ships, resort hotels and many others.
